Sunshine Clothings

We are down in the basement at Ta 107 on Main Okhla Road, right in the Tughlakabad Extension area. You have to walk down the stairs to find us. It’s a bit cooler down here than it is up on the street, which is a relief in the summer. The basement is full of sewing machines and rolls of cloth. There is always a layer of lint on everything, no matter how much we clean. The noise of the traffic on Main Okhla Road stays up there, and we just hear a dull hum. We spend our hours cutting fabric and making sure the stitching is right. It’s not a fancy setup. We have some old tube lights that flicker sometimes. We just fix them and carry on. The workers bring their own food and we take breaks when we can. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because of the traffic jams outside, so we have to stay a bit longer to get everything sorted. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. People come here because they know the address. It’s a practical place for practical work. The walls are a bit stained from old water leaks, but the machines are kept in good shape. That’s what matters most to us. We just keep our heads down and get the clothing orders ready for whoever is waiting for them.
