If you go down into the basement at number 55 in the Patparganj Industrial Area, that’s where you’ll find Taurus Confectionery India Pvt Ltd. It’s not a glamorous spot, being in an industrial zone and all. The walls are plain and the floors are meant for hard work, not for looking pretty. We spend most of our time down here surrounded by the smell of sugar and flour. It’s a basement, so we don’t get much natural light, but the machines keep us warm enough. The Industrial Area is always noisy with trucks and other businesses, so we fit right in. We’ve got a small crew that has been together for a long time. We know each other's habits and how the equipment sounds when it's running right. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bags and watching the timers. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, which is just part of being in this part of town. We aren't a big factory with robots. We do a lot of things by hand because that’s just how we learned to do it. We don't have a front showroom or anything fancy. It’s just a workspace where we get things made and packed for delivery. We stay busy, we keep the floors swept, and we make sure the orders are ready on time. That’s our day.
