T. K. National Umbrella

We are located at C-595, Gamri Extension, right on Street-11 in Sudama Puri. If you come by, you’ll see we have umbrellas everywhere. T. K. National Umbrella has been in this neighborhood for a long time. The street is pretty narrow, so it can be a bit of a squeeze when we are moving boxes in and out. Inside, the shelves are stacked high with all kinds of frames and fabrics. We spend a lot of time stitching and checking the handles to make sure they don't break the first time someone uses them. It’s a very manual job. Our hands are always busy. During the rainy season, things get incredibly hectic here and we barely have time to sit down. The rest of the year is a bit slower, which gives us time to fix up the shop or organize the stock. We have a small tea break every afternoon where we sit out front for ten minutes. You get to know everyone on Street-11 that way. We aren't a big factory; it's more of a family-style setup where everyone knows their role. The building is an old one, and it can get a bit hot in the summer, but we’re used to it. We just focus on making things that keep people dry. It’s simple work and we like it that way in Sudama Puri.
