About Srijan Fabrics – Building & Construction Material in Delhi
We are based over in Gandhi Nagar, specifically in the Raghubarpura area. If you’ve ever been to Gandhi Nagar, you know how packed it gets with rolls of cloth and people moving everywhere. Our shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. There are stacks of fabric reaching almost to the ceiling in some corners. It smells like fresh cotton and dye in here most of the time. We spend our days measuring out lengths of fabric for people or talking to the weavers. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting those heavy rolls around. Sometimes we get the colors wrong or the shipment is late, and then we have to sort it out with the customers. It’s just the way the textile business is. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that creak when they spin. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street, so there’s a lot of chatting back and forth throughout the day. We’ve been here for years, and the shop has stayed pretty much the same. We don't see any reason to change things if they’re working. We just keep our heads down and handle the fabric. It's a simple life and we like it that way. Usually, by the time we finish for the day, the street is finally getting quiet.
