Special Effects

Zakir Nagar is a tight squeeze sometimes, especially Lane Number 12. We are over at House No. 560 in Joy Apartment. You have to head up to the 3rd floor to find Special Effects. It’s a lively area of New Delhi, lots of food smells and people talking outside. Our office isn’t huge, but it fits what we need for the work. There’s always someone coming or going. The stairs are narrow, so we don’t carry too much up at once. It feels like a home because it basically is an apartment building. We have our desks set up and some gear tucked in the corners. On rainy days, the lane gets a bit muddy, but that’s just how it is here. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and the neighbors know us. We do various effects work, mostly focusing on getting things right for the folks who find their way to our door. It’s not some big studio with glass walls, just a practical space where we can focus. Usually, we have the radio on or someone is making tea in the small kitchen area. It’s a decent place to spend the day. New Delhi 25 is a busy pin code, but we’ve found our rhythm here. Sometimes we stay late when a project is due, and the street quietens down a little. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
