We've been making biris in Delhi for quite some time now. Shiv Biri Mfg. Co (P) Ltd. is just our small company based right here in the city. It’s mostly just us coming in every day, handling the leaves and the tobacco, making sure the bundles get out to the shops. It isn't a fancy setup. Our place in Delhi is where all the work happens. Some days are busier than others, especially when the orders pile up. We don't really do much advertising. People know where we are. We just focus on the rolling and packing part. It’s a lot of manual work, sitting there and getting the shape right. Most of the staff have been here for years, so we all know the routine by heart. Sometimes the weather makes it hard with the drying, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to keep the machines or rather the hands moving. It’s a bit dusty, and the smell of tobacco is everywhere, but that’s just how it is. If you walk past our spot in Delhi, you'll see the stacks of crates. We don't have a big office with glass walls or anything like that. Just a practical workspace where we get the job done. The guys in the back have their own way of doing things. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long shifts. It’s just how we live.
