Shimizu Corporation

Our office for Shimizu Corporation is tucked away at 3/50-G, near the Serbia Embassy in New Delhi. This part of Delhi is very different from the crowded markets. It is much quieter here because of all the embassies and high-security buildings nearby. The streets are wider and there are a lot more trees. We are in a residential-style building that has been converted for our use. It feels very secure, which is nice, but it also means there are always police or guards around. Sometimes it’s a bit of a hassle for visitors to get through the security checkpoints if they aren't used to it. Inside, our space is fairly simple. We have a few rooms set up with drafting tables and computers. It’s not a big, open-plan office like you see in the movies. It has a more personal feel, almost like working in someone’s large house. We don’t have any big neon signs or anything like that. Just a small plaque on the gate. The commute here is okay if you avoid the main arterial roads during peak hours. We usually bring our own lunch because there aren't many small stalls or shops right next to us. It’s a calm place to work, which helps when we need to concentrate on the details of our projects. We’ve been at this Delhi location for some time now and we have no plans to move. It is a solid, quiet place to get things done.
