Shankar Lock House

If you have ever been to Sadar Bazar, you know how it is. It’s crowded and loud all the time. Our place, Shankar Lock House, is up on the first floor of Shiv Market. We deal with locks mostly. All kinds of them. It gets pretty cramped in here with all the boxes. We spend a lot of time sorting through inventory. Sadar is the kind of place where you have to move fast or you get in the way. We’ve seen the market change over the years, but the noise stays the same. The stairs up to the shop are a bit narrow. We carry crates up there every morning. Sometimes the lights flicker, but we just keep working. It’s a lot of metal and keys around here. My desk is usually covered in receipts and small parts. We don't have a big fancy office. Just the shop floor and the shelves. Most of our day is spent talking to people who come in looking for something specific. Some know exactly what they want, others need to look through everything we have. It’s a long day, usually starting before the main rush. We close up once the market starts to quiet down, which isn't very early. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. Dealing with locks means you have to be careful about the small details. Sometimes the keys don't fit right and we have to try again. It’s just a regular shop in a very busy market area.
