Raja Garments

If you’re ever near the MTNL office in Shalimar Bagh, you’ll likely pass by Shop No. 9a in Block Ad. That’s where we are, Raja Garments. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve been here for a while, and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we stay pretty much the same. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to be careful about how we stack the clothes so nothing falls over. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we get a lot of people in at once, but we make it work. Most of our day is spent unfolding things for customers to look at and then folding them back up again. It’s honest work, and it keeps us on our feet. We don’t have a website or any of those modern things; we just rely on people walking by or neighbors who have been coming to us for years. There’s a tea stall nearby that we visit a few times a day, and that’s usually when we get our local news. We like the pace here in Shalimar Bagh. It’s busy but not too crazy. We try to keep the shop clean and organized, even if it gets a bit dusty sometimes from the road. It’s just a regular local business run by people who live nearby. We don’t overthink it. We just open the shutters in the morning and see what the day brings, hoping the rain doesn't get inside.
