Our office is down in the basement of the Ajnara Complex, specifically number 12 in the Savita Vihar Market. It’s not the most visible spot if you’re just walking by on the main road, but people who need lift work usually find their way down to us. Working with elevators is a strange business because when they work perfectly, nobody thinks about them. We spend our time thinking about cables, buttons, and those heavy motors that sit at the top of buildings. In the basement, we keep a lot of our tools and the spare parts that we need for emergency calls. It’s a bit cramped sometimes with all the control panels and wiring kits lying around. The market outside is always noisy with shoppers, but down here it’s mostly just us talking about technical specs. We aren’t a giant corporation with hundreds of workers. We’re a smaller team that knows how to handle the mechanical side of things. If a lift in a nearby apartment stops moving, one of us is usually out the door with a toolkit pretty fast. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most of our work happens on-site at different buildings anyway. When we are back at the shop, we’re usually just catching up on paperwork or testing out a new piece of equipment. It’s a steady kind of life, keeping things moving up and down.
