Satnam Engineering & Fabricator Pvt. Ltd. is based out of the Delhi Police Apartments in Mayurvihar Phase-1. It is a bit of a tight squeeze in A-12-T, but we manage to get all the engineering and fabrication work sorted from there. Mayurvihar is a crowded spot, and being in an apartment complex means we have to be a bit careful about how much noise we make. We aren't your typical factory; it is more of an office where the planning happens before the actual fabrication starts elsewhere. The desks are covered in sketches and metal samples, and there is always a layer of fine dust on the computer monitors. It’s a small operation, really, just a few of us trying to keep the projects on track. We don't have any big corporate slogans or anything fancy. Mostly, we just drink a lot of chai and argue about the best way to weld a particular joint. The phone rings a lot, and someone is always running late because of the Delhi traffic. It is a bit disorganized at times, with piles of paper everywhere, but we have our own system that works for us. We have been here in New Delhi-91 for a while, and we’ve become part of the background noise of the neighborhood. The apartment block has its rules, so we try to stay quiet after six.
