If you know Sadar Bazar, you know how crazy it gets around Bara Tooti. Our place is on the first floor of number forty-nine sixty-four. You have to walk up some narrow stairs to find us. It’s always crowded downstairs with handcarts and people rushing everywhere. Sometimes it takes twenty minutes just to move a few meters outside. Up here, it’s a bit calmer, but not by much. We’ve got stacks of boxes piled up to the ceiling in some corners. It’s a trading office, so there’s always someone on the phone or checking a list. Delhi gets so dusty, so we are always wiping down the desks. We’ve been in this spot for a good while. The neighbors are all doing similar things, so we all know each other. Sometimes we share a quick meal or just complain about the electricity going out. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do. We deal with a lot of different people coming in from all over the country to buy stuff. You have to be quick on your feet here. The market moves fast and if you aren't paying attention, you'll fall behind. We just try to keep our heads down and handle the orders as they come in. It’s just a typical day in the middle of a very busy city.
