Reputed Law Firm

Down in Gali No. 12, things get pretty crowded during the day. Our office is right there in F 20, and if you know New Delhi, you know how these streets can be. We have stacks of legal folders piled up on almost every flat surface. It’s a Reputed Law Firm, though we don't spend much time worrying about how the place looks to outsiders. There is always a lot of reading to do and things to draft before the courts get busy. People come in with all sorts of legal worries, sitting on the wooden chairs we have in the waiting area while we try to find their specific file. It’s noisy outside with the bikes and the vendors, but inside we just focus on the law and what the papers say. Sometimes we stay late when a case is moving fast, drinking tea and looking over the same paragraph five times to make sure we didn't miss a comma. We don't have a big shiny lobby or a receptionist in a suit. It’s just a bunch of us working in a room full of books and dusty shelves. We handle the local stuff and whatever else comes through the door. It’s practical work. You learn a lot about how people think when you work in a law office in a busy Gali like this one. We just try to keep things moving and get the job done without making a big fuss about it.
