United Threads is right here at No. 149 Raja Garden. It’s not a huge place, just a regular spot where we keep all the spools and rolls of thread. Usually, the morning starts with checking what came in the day before and making sure the shelves are somewhat organized, though they never stay that way for long. There’s a lot of lint in the air, that’s just how it is when you deal with this much cotton and polyester. Most days, someone is sitting at the back desk handling the phone or looking over the ledger books. We’ve got a few people who have been here for years, and we all know where every color is kept, even the weird shades that nobody asks for often. It’s a bit noisy when the machines are running or when the delivery trucks pull up outside on the street. We don’t have fancy rugs or a lobby. People just walk in, ask for what they need, and we go find it in the back. Sometimes the tea guy comes by around four and we take a quick break before finishing up the orders. It’s a practical setup. We handle a lot of thread every single day, and the floor always needs a good sweep by the time we lock up in the evening. It’s just us working through the piles and getting things sent out to where they need to go.
