Our shop is number 870 in the Old Lajpat Rai Market and if you know that area, you know how packed it gets. Working as Rahul Builder from such a small spot means you have to be organized. We have tools and blueprints tucked into every corner. The market is always loud with people shouting and carts moving past. It’s a historic place but it can be a headache to get deliveries in and out. I spend half my day out at construction sites and the other half here at the shop dealing with people walking in. The desk is covered in dust most of the time because of all the activity around us. We’ve been in this market for a long time and everyone knows everyone. It’s not like those big corporate offices with glass walls. We have a metal shutter and a ceiling fan that squeaks a bit. You get used to the chaos after a while. Sometimes I eat my lunch standing up because there’s just no room to sit down with all the supplies we have coming in. We don’t have any fancy brochures or a marketing team. We just talk to people face to face and do the work that’s right in front of us. It’s a tough way to make a living but it keeps us busy and we wouldn't have it any other way.
