This branch of Puja Construction Company is based at Himgiri Bhawan in Nerchowk, which is in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Working in the hills is very different from the plains. Our office is located in a local building that looks out over the valley. We deal with construction projects specifically for the mountain terrain, which means we have to think about the weather and the slopes a lot. The address in Janakpuri, New Delhi is another part of the company, but here in Mandi, things are a bit slower. We have a small team of locals who understand how to build on this land. Most of our day is spent coordinating with site supervisors and making sure we have enough stone and timber. It can get very cold in the winter, so work slows down then, but during the rest of the year, we are quite busy. The office at Himgiri Bhawan is simple, with just a few desks and a lot of project files. We don't really do much in the way of promotion. Most of our work comes from people in the Mandi district who know our name. It is just a group of us working together to get these buildings up in the Himachal area. We take things one day at a time, depending on what the weather allows us to do. Sometimes the road to a site gets blocked, and we just have to wait it out.
