We are tucked away in Gittorni village. It’s right near the school, at Biswember Lohia’s place. The air is always a bit dusty because of the marbles. That’s just part of the life here in this part of New Delhi. We deal with stones and mining stuff. It’s heavy work. Slabs of marble are everywhere. You get the white ones and some with veins. We handle the loading and unloading all day. The village has grown, but the stone business stays big here. Gittorni is known for this. We’ve been in this spot for years. The guys work hard with their hands. It’s not a clean office job. Your boots will get white dust on them within five minutes. We talk to contractors and builders mostly. They know the yard. We don't have a big sign or anything. Just the address near the school. It gets loud when the cutters are running. We drink chai and talk about the next shipment. The weather hits us hard in the summer. It gets really hot in the yard. But the work doesn't stop. Marble is heavy so we use cranes and stuff. It’s a simple setup. If you need stone, you come down to the village. We’ll show you what’s in the stacks. No fancy showroom here. Just the raw materials and the people who move them. The logistics of moving these heavy slabs is the hardest part. We deal with truck drivers every morning. Sometimes they get lost in the village lanes, and we have to go out and wave them in.
