Being in Bhagirath Palace means it is always crowded. Our shop is at 1783. If you’ve ever been to Chandni Chowk, you know how it is. People everywhere and narrow lanes. We deal with lights. All kinds of them. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with boxes. Sometimes it feels like the boxes are holding up the walls. We have been in this spot for a long time. My father was here before me. It’s a family thing, I guess. We don't have much room for a desk, so we usually just stand or sit on a stool near the counter. It gets hot in the summer, but the fans help a bit. Customers come in looking for specific bulbs or wiring all day long. We know the stock well enough to find things even when it looks like a mess. Chandni Chowk has a certain energy that you don't find anywhere else. It’s loud and busy, and the tea is always strong. We don't do fancy advertising. People just know where we are. We sell what we have and try to be fair about it. It’s a simple way to run a business. We open early to beat the main rush of the crowd. It’s a long day, but we are used to the noise and the constant stream of people coming in to browse. Sometimes we just talk to the regulars about the local news while they wait for their orders to be packed.
