People's Cafe

You can find us at T-2 in Hauz Khas Village. If you know the area, you know how the narrow streets are always full of people and cats. Our cafe is tucked in there and it can be a bit of a squeeze when it gets busy. We spend a lot of time just moving the small tables around to make more room for whoever walks in. The walls have some stuff hanging on them that we liked, nothing too expensive or professional. We started this because we wanted a spot in the village where we could just work and serve some drinks and snacks. The coffee machine makes a lot of noise and sometimes the milk doesn't foam exactly how we want it but it tastes fine. We get a lot of younger people coming in with their laptops or just hanging out after walking through the deer park nearby. It stays pretty humid in here during the monsoon but we keep the windows open when the weather is nice. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that behind us. It is just a couple of us doing the cleaning, the cooking, and the billing every day. Sometimes we run out of things on the menu and we just have to tell people we'll have it tomorrow. That’s just life in the village really.
