Fie is a busy place, and being at house 298 means we see a lot of the daily bustle. We do exports, so there are always boxes stacked up near the door. The tape dispenser makes that loud noise all day long. Some days are slower, but mostly we are just trying to keep the inventory straight. The office is small and usually has too many papers on the desks. We try to keep it organized but it’s hard when new shipments come in. The building itself is nothing special, just a sturdy place to keep the goods dry and safe. We’ve got a couple of fans going because it gets stuffy with all the cardboard around. Our neighbors in the other units are mostly doing the same kind of thing, so we all know each other. Drivers get lost sometimes trying to find the specific number in Fie, so we end up standing out on the road to wave them down. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving things. We don’t have a website that looks like a movie; we just have our logs and our shipping labels. It’s how we’ve always done it at Jayanita Exports. We just want to get the orders out without any mistakes. The concrete floor is cold in the winter but we just wear extra layers. We keep a kettle in the corner for tea when we need a break. It's a simple operation and we just keep it moving.
