Omaxe

Out here in Singhagaon, things move at their own pace. Omaxe has been set up in the Eradang Natara area of Kendrapara for quite some time. It is a quiet corner of Orissa, really. Most people around here know where we are, right near the main path. We don't have a massive office building with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we sit and handle our daily business. The heat can be a lot in the summer, so we have fans running all day long. We deal with whatever comes our way, mostly focusing on the local needs of the community. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or chat until it comes back on. It’s a very grounded way to work. Everyone knows everyone else in the village. We started small and stayed that way because it makes things simpler to manage. You might find some of us sitting outside during the lunch break when it’s not too hot. We don't do much talking about big plans or anything. We just make sure the work for today is finished before we head home. It feels good to be part of the landscape here in Kendrapara. India is big, but our little spot in Singhagaon feels like home to us. It gets rainy sometimes, but we manage to keep everything dry and moving.
