A. K. Old Dhoti Merchant

Our shop, A. K. Old Dhoti Merchant, is located at A- 35- B in New Ranjeet Nagar. We are quite close to the Satyam Cinema in West Patel Nagar, which makes us pretty easy to find if you are in the neighborhood. We have been dealing in dhotis for a very long time. It’s a traditional business and we like it that way. The shop isn't very large, and it is mostly filled with stacks of white cloth and different types of dhotis. We don't have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people walking in or knowing us from years back. New Ranjeet Nagar is a lively place to be, and there is always noise from the street coming into the shop. We sit on the floor mostly, or on small stools, and show the cloth to whoever comes in. It’s a slow kind of business compared to the big malls, but we don't mind. We take our time with each person. The cinema nearby brings a lot of people to the area, so we see a lot of faces. It’s just me and a couple of others here most days. We keep the place clean, but it’s an old shop with old shelves. People come to us because they know we have what they need for their ceremonies or daily wear. It’s a quiet, honest way to make a living.
