M/S S. Gupta Contract India Pvt. Ltd. is in Khanpur Extn, which is one of those Delhi neighborhoods where the lanes are narrow and always busy. Our office is at F-8, Ambedkar Nagar. If you know New Delhi-62, you know how crowded it gets around here. There is always someone shouting or a bike honking right outside the window. We have got a small space on the ground floor. It is filled with files and some old wooden cupboards that have been here for years. The light is not great, but we have a few bright lamps for when we have to stay late to finish things. It gets incredibly hot in the summer, and our little cooler tries its best but often struggles. We usually grab our lunch from the food stalls nearby. The food is spicy and keeps us going through the afternoon. Most of the day is spent on the phone or typing out long lists. It is not a quiet place, but the energy of the city is right there at the doorstep. We do not have fancy carpets or glass partitions. We just have a couple of desks and a lot of pens that always seem to go missing when you need one. It is a tight-knit group here. We know the neighbors and the man who delivers the water every day. It is just a regular Delhi office where we handle the contracts and keep track of the site crews.
