Chandni Chowk is a place where you can get lost easily, but we are right on More Sarai Road at Shop Number 20. Being near Old Lajpat Rai means there is always a crowd outside and the noise of rickshaws never really stops. Inside the shop, it is mostly rolls of cable and different types of wiring stacked from the floor to the ceiling. It is a tight squeeze if more than two people are inside at the same time. We have been here for years, and the wooden counter is worn down from all the heavy spools being dragged across it. It is a bit dark in the back, so we use a torch if we need to find something specific. The air always feels a bit heavy with the scent of industrial materials. We don't bother much with signage or trying to look modern. Most people come to us because they know we have been in this spot for a long time. Lunch is usually brought from home or bought from one of the vendors right outside on the street. We deal with all sorts of people, from contractors to folks just looking for a bit of wire for a home fix. It is a busy life but it is what we know. The fans keep humming all day to try and move the air around in the heat. Maheshwari Cable Co. is just part of the old market fabric.
