Maharaja Traders

Our shop is located at 2365 in Khampur, right across from Metro Pillar No. 217. It’s actually very easy to find because the pillar is such a big landmark. The noise from the metro trains passing above is something we hear all day, but you eventually stop noticing it. We handle a lot of trading for different goods and materials. The place is usually full of crates and bags, leaving just a small path for us to walk through. I’ve been here for over ten years now, and the routine hasn't changed much. We start early to avoid the worst of the dust and heat from the main road. We have a couple of boys who help us with the loading and unloading when the trucks arrive. Sometimes the traffic is so thick that the trucks have to wait around the corner until there’s a gap. Our office part is just a small wooden desk with a phone and a lot of old receipts. We don’t have air conditioning, so we just keep the doors open and use a big ceiling fan. It’s a busy, noisy life, but we have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for a long time. We don't have a mission or anything like that, we just make sure the stock moves. We are just traders doing our bit every day in the city. The shutters go down at eight.
