It’s usually pretty quiet around Court Lane in the mornings, but once we open up here at 5 B-2, things pick up fast. We’ve been at this spot in Civil Lanes for a while now, and the floor is pretty much permanently stained with oil and grease from all the cars that come through. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we get our hands dirty every single day. Most of the time, you’ll find one of us under a hood or lying on a creeper trying to figure out where a specific rattling noise is coming from. We have tools scattered on the benches, and sometimes it takes a minute to find the right wrench because we’re busy moving from one job to the next. The fans hum in the background to keep the air moving, especially when it gets hot in the afternoons. People drop by with their vehicles; some just need a quick check and others have things that are really broken down. We just take it as it comes. There isn't much of a front desk or a waiting lounge; it’s mostly just the work area and a few chairs if someone wants to sit for a bit while we finish up. It’s honest work, and by the end of the day, we’re tired and covered in dust, but that’s just how it is running a place like M K Auto. We close up the shutters and head home, then do it all again.
