Our shop is at number 44/4 in the Community Center over in East of Kailash. This part of the neighborhood is pretty lived-in, with a lot of people who have been around for decades. We get a mix of office folks and residents. I usually start the day by checking the inventory and making sure the pastry cases are filled up. The community center can be a bit quiet in the mornings, but it picks up around lunchtime. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy. There is a lot of glass here, so someone is always cleaning it. It’s a straightforward job. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just serve what we have and try to keep things organized. Sometimes the delivery truck is late because of the traffic on the main road, and we have to shuffle things around. It happens. We have a few small tables, and it’s nice to see people sitting there reading the paper or just chatting. I’ve noticed that most people have a specific routine when they come in. They want the same thing every time. It makes the work feel predictable, which is fine by me. We don't have a big corporate team here, just a few of us making sure the doors stay open and the coffee stays hot. It’s just another local business trying to do right by the people who live nearby. We finish our shift and go home.
