Out here in Mandi, things usually move at their own pace. We are set up at 174402 and we spend most of our time out on the actual sites rather than sitting in the office all day. Himachal Pradesh has its own challenges with the weather and the steep terrain, but we are well used to it by now. The team here at Leighton Asia is a small group, mostly local folks who know the roads and the hills better than anyone. We do not go for anything flashy or expensive. Our setup is simple because that is all we really need to get the job done. Sometimes the internet is slow or the delivery trucks get delayed by the rain, but we always figure it out. It is practical work. We have seen a lot of changes in the local landscape over the years. We take our notes, check the measurements, and just keep moving forward. There is not much talk about fancy goals here; we just look at the schedule and see what needs doing next. Lunch is usually whatever someone brought from home or something quick from the small market nearby. It is a very grounded way to work. If you came by, you would see dusty boots and a lot of maps pinned to the walls. We stay busy with the projects and try to keep things simple. It is just how we operate in this part of the country every single day.
