Rastogi Suitings

We’ve been here at D- 73 in Amar Colony for a good while now. It’s right on the Main Road of Lajpat Nagar- 4, so things get pretty loud with all the rickshaws and people walking by all day. Most mornings start with just dusting off the counters and moving fabric rolls around so people can actually see what’s in stock. We deal mostly in suitings, obviously. It’s just a lot of polyester and wool blends stacked up on the shelves. Sometimes the air conditioner struggles when it’s really hot in June, but we manage. People come in looking for something for a wedding or just a new pair of trousers for work. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. We just have these wooden stools for people to sit on while they look at the patterns. My father started this, and now I’m usually the one here along with a couple of guys who help with the cutting. We don't really do much advertising. People usually just know we are here because of the big sign outside that’s been there for years. The tea stall guy next door brings us chai twice a day, and that’s basically how the day goes. We try to keep things organized but with so many bundles of cloth, it gets a bit messy by the afternoon. It's just a regular shop where we do our work and go home.
