Shrinath Shawls

Our workshop is at F-13/15 in Krishna Nagar. We specialize in shawls, which is something we’ve been doing for years. It’s a specific kind of work that requires a bit of patience. Krishna Nagar is a nice area, and we’ve made our home here. When you walk into our place, you’ll see heaps of wool and different fabrics. We spend a lot of time on the details of the patterns. It isn't the fastest work, but we think it’s better to take our time. We have a few older looms that we still use because they just feel right. Sometimes we try to come up with new colors, and we spend hours arguing over which shade of blue is better. It’s just us and a few helpers. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. If someone has a problem, they just come and talk to us directly. We like keeping it that way. The winters are usually our busiest time, as you can imagine. We end up working late into the night then. During the summer, we prepare for the next season. It’s a cycle that we’ve gotten used to over the years. We don't do much advertising. People know where we are if they need a good shawl. We just keep our heads down and keep the looms moving. It’s what we know how to do best. Most days, the sound of the looms is all you hear.
