King Bird Light

You can find King Bird Light at Shop No. 739B, right in the Old Lajpat Rai Market in Chandni Chowk. We are directly opposite the Red Fort, so we see a lot of tourists and locals every single day. The market is incredibly loud and crowded, but that’s just how things are in this part of Delhi. Our shop is quite small, like most of the ones in Lajpat Rai Market, so we have to use every inch of space. We have lights hanging from the ceiling and stacked on every available shelf. Sometimes it feels like the boxes might fall over if you sneeze too hard. We deal with all sorts of decorative and commercial lighting. It’s a lot of work just keeping track of what’s in the front and what’s tucked away in the back storage. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum loudly while we talk to customers. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. People come in, ask for a price, and we tell them what it is. Dealing with the crowds every day can be tiring, but the view of the fort across the road is something we never really get tired of seeing. We’ve been here for years, through the heat and the rain, just selling lights to whoever walks through the door. It’s a fast-paced environment and you have to be quick on your feet to get through the day here.
