We are based in Kilokri Village, at number 62-A, which is quite close to Maharani Bagh. It’s an interesting spot because you have the village feel but you’re so close to the busier parts of the city. We work with silk here, which is a bit different from the usual cottons or synthetics. You have to be careful with it because it’s delicate. Our workshop isn't very large, but we’ve got enough space for our looms and the finishing tables. The atmosphere in Kilokri is pretty relaxed compared to a big industrial estate. You can hear the neighborhood sounds through the windows while we work. We’ve been doing this for some time, and the local residents know us as the silk people. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. Most of our work is just about the craft itself. We spend a lot of time looking at threads and checking the weave of the fabric. Sometimes the light in the village isn't the best in the evenings, so we have to make sure our lamps are positioned just right. It’s a quiet kind of work, very different from the loud factories elsewhere. We just enjoy the process of making something nice from the raw silk and seeing the finished product. We keep things simple and stay focused on our little corner of the village. It is a slow process but we like it that way.
