Our shop is tucked away in Lane 3 of Gaffar Market. If you know Karol Bagh, you know how packed it gets. Ram Saran Dass & Sons has been sitting at number 23 for quite some time. It’s a family thing, passed down and kept running through the years. The lane is narrow and there’s always someone shouting or a scooter trying to squeeze past. We have stacks of stuff everywhere. It might look a bit messy to someone from outside, but we know where everything is. Most days start with tea and opening up the shutters. We talk to the neighboring shopkeepers while waiting for the first customers. It’s a busy atmosphere. People come to Gaffar for all sorts of things, and they usually end up wandering down our lane. We don't have a website or anything fancy. People just know we are here. Sometimes it gets hot and the fans don't do much, but that’s just life in the market. We handle the paperwork on small wooden desks. The boys help move the heavy bundles when a fresh delivery arrives. It’s a lot of manual work. We’ve seen the market change a lot, but our little spot stays mostly the same. We just show up, do the business, and go home. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night. No big frills here.
