U. K. Wear

U. K. Wear is tucked away in 42g Block in Kalkaji. It’s a very local neighborhood, so we are surrounded by houses and other small shops. Working in Delhi, especially in a place like Kalkaji, means you are always part of the hustle and bustle. Our building isn’t very big, so we have to be smart about how we use the space. We have racks of clothing lined up against the walls and a couple of large tables for folding and inspecting. The air is often filled with the sound of the ceiling fans and the noise from the street outside. Sometimes we can hear the neighbors talking or the street vendors calling out their goods. It’s a very human place to work. We aren't tucked away in some sterile office park; we are right in the thick of things. Usually, there’s a pile of fabric samples on the main desk and a calendar marked up with all sorts of notes. We handle the daily tasks of running a clothing business, which means a lot of checking sizes and making sure the buttons are on right. When it rains, the street outside gets a bit muddy, and we have to be careful not to track it into the work area. It’s a simple, honest setup where we just try to do our best with the clothes we handle every single day before we lock up and head home.
