Jagaran Prakashan Ltd.

Our small office is tucked away in Sector-71 at the Janta Apartment complex. It’s 14/9 if you’re looking for the door. Jagaran Prakashan Ltd. has been running out of this spot for a while, mostly dealing with papers and prints. Noida is always busy, but our corner of the apartment building stays mostly calm, except when a deadline is coming up. We spend a lot of time hunched over desks or checking the latest proofs that come in. It’s mostly just us and the humming of the machines. Some people think publishing is all about big events, but for us, it’s mostly just making sure the ink looks right and the words fit on the page. We have coffee spills on our notes and boxes of old issues stacked in the corners because we haven’t found a better place for them yet. It’s a bit cramped, especially when we get a big delivery of paper, but we manage. Being in U.P. means we see all sorts of people coming through. We don’t have a big reception area or anything. You just walk in and someone will probably look up from their screen to say hello. It's a simple operation, really. We just try to get the work done before the day ends so we can head home like everyone else. We stay late sometimes when the printing press has a hiccup, but that’s just part of the job.
