Hotel The Grand Hyatt is located in V.P.O Dodhamb, which is near Shahpur in Uttar Pradesh. Don't let the name confuse you with those massive hotels in the big cities. We are a local establishment in a rural part of the state. Life here revolves around the seasons and the village schedule. Our building is one of the taller ones in the immediate area, but that isn't saying much. We have a few rooms that we keep ready for travelers or people coming through for local weddings and functions. The surroundings are mostly fields and small houses. It’s quiet at night, except for the occasional dog barking or a tractor passing by. We don't have a fancy reception desk with a computer. Usually, one of us is just sitting near the entrance ready to help. We do the cleaning ourselves and make sure the linens are washed. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do. The weather can be tough, really cold in the winter and very dusty in the summer, so we spend a lot of time sweeping. We are just a small team trying to provide a place to stay for those who find themselves in our part of Uttar Pradesh. It’s not fancy, but it is what it is. We are just regular people running a regular business in a small village, doing our best every day.
