Prime Lamps And Shades is tucked away in Hari Nagar, specifically at Be-270/2 on Street Number 4. We are quite close to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, so we see a lot of students and staff walking past the end of our street every day. Our shop is filled with all sorts of lights—some are hanging from the ceiling and others are sitting on every available shelf. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when we get new stock in. We spend a lot of time fixing shades or helping people find the right bulb for an old lamp they have at home. It’s a quiet kind of work, mostly. We like the glow in the shop when we turn everything on in the evening; it makes the place feel warm compared to the street outside. We aren't a big chain store, so we know where every single piece came from and how long it’s been sitting there. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they live in the neighborhood. We don’t do much advertising. We just open the doors, put out a few things on the sidewalk to show we’re open, and wait for whoever needs some light. It’s a small family business, and we’ve been in this same spot for a long time. The street is narrow, but there’s always something interesting happening outside our door when the afternoon gets busy.
