Hardware Centre

Hardware Centre is located down in the Jama Masjid area, specifically in Bazar Sirkiwalan at house number 1888. This is a place where history is basically part of the walls. The air in Sirkiwalan always smells like metal and oil because this market has been the hub for hardware for a very long time. Our shop isn't very large, but we make use of every inch of space from the floor to the ceiling. We have drawers filled with tiny screws and racks holding heavy tools. It is the kind of place where you have to move carefully so you don't bump into a stack of pipes. The building at 1888 is old, and the stairs are narrow. We spend our days helping people find that one specific part they need for a repair. The noise from the bazar is constant—horns, people shouting, and the clinking of metal. It is a lot of hard work, especially when we have to move heavy items through the crowded lanes of Jama Masjid. We don't have fancy computers or a lounge area. There is just a wooden counter where we do all our business and a few stools for when the feet get tired. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to this bazar for decades. We just keep our heads down and handle the hardware, making sure we have what people are looking for in this busy corner of Old Delhi.
