Gupta Cables

Gupta Cables is tucked into Gali No. 8 at the Shambhu Nath Compound. We’re at 458/466 in Friends Colony, right off the GT Road in Shahdara. It’s a tight squeeze in this lane sometimes, especially when we’re loading up the trucks. We’ve been in this compound for years. Everyone around here knows us. The walls are a bit stained from the grease and the years of work, but that’s fine. It’s a workplace, not a showroom. We deal with a lot of wire and cable every day. Our hands usually have some bit of copper or plastic dust on them by the time we go home. We don't have a lot of rules about how things are said, just as long as the orders are right. My uncle started this, and now a few of us keep it going. It’s a family-style environment, even for the guys who aren't related. We share tea and complain about the heat in the summer. Shahdara is a crowded place, but it’s home for the business. We don't have a website that looks like a movie. We just have our shop and our reputation with the people who buy from us. If someone needs cable, they come down to Gali No. 8 and ask for us. The Shambhu Nath Compound has its own rhythm. We know when the other shops open and close. It's a tight-knit spot. Sometimes the rain makes the lane a bit muddy, but we just put down some planks and keep moving.
