Granite Galaxy

We've been at shop 475/476 in Shiv Market for a while now. Dealing with stone is heavy work, and that's just what we do every day here in Wazirpur. People come in from Ashok Vihar looking for stuff for their kitchens or floors. It's usually dusty around the shop because of all the granite slabs we move around. My hands are always rough from handling the edges. We started small, just a couple of guys, and we’re still basically that. The market here is busy, lots of traffic and noise outside. We keep the slabs stacked up high, so you have to be careful walking through the aisles. Sometimes the colors don't look exactly the same under the shop lights as they do outside, so we tell people to take a piece out to the sun. It's not a fancy showroom. We just have the stone and the tools to cut it. Most of our day is spent unloading trucks or talking to contractors who need things in a hurry. If you find us in the back, we might be having tea. We don't have a big office or anything. It's just the shop and the stones. We’ve seen the market change over the years, but the way we handle the granite is pretty much the same. It's hard work, and we just get on with it. It’s mostly about lifting things and making sure the cuts are somewhat straight. We don’t really have a big sales pitch, just the stone.
