Interlining House is right on the Main Road in Govindpuri, at No. 1155 A/11. If you know Kalkaji, you know how busy this area gets. There is always someone shouting or a horn honking outside our door. We deal with garment interlinings and fabrics. The shop is filled with huge rolls of white and black material stacked up against the walls. It can get a bit dusty with all the fibers flying around, so we try to sweep every evening. I spend most of my day measuring out lengths of fabric and cutting them for customers. It is a lot of standing on your feet. My knees usually ache by the time I close the shop. We get a lot of tailors and small garment makers coming in. They usually want something specific, and we have to dig through the rolls to find the right weight or stiffness. The lighting in the back isn't the best, so I sometimes have to bring the fabric to the front door to see the color properly. We’ve been in Govindpuri for a long time, and we have seen the street change so much. It used to be quieter, but now it’s just non-stop. We don't have a big computer system; we just write everything down in a thick notebook. It’s worked for us so far, so we don’t see a reason to change it now. We just stay busy with the cutting and the counting.
