Sari Magic Skirt

Sari Magic Skirt is right in the middle of Gandhi Nagar at No. 1184. This area is famous for being a huge wholesale market, and it’s honestly a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. The lanes are so narrow that two people can barely walk side by side, and there’s always a rickshaw or a cart trying to squeeze past. Our shop is packed tight with skirts and different kinds of fabrics. We don't have much floor space, so we stack everything up towards the ceiling. You have to be careful not to knock anything over when you’re moving around. Most of the time, the air is thick with the smell of new cloth and sometimes the street food from the vendors nearby. It’s a very busy atmosphere, and we’re usually dealing with multiple people at once. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that don't do much when it’s peak summer in Delhi. We keep a ledger on a small wooden desk to track what goes out. The walls are a bit stained and the floor is just plain cement, but it works for what we need. It’s a very basic operation where the focus is just on moving the stock. We start early in the morning before the crowds get too thick and we usually don't leave until the sun is long gone. It's a tough environment but it's where we've always been doing our work.
