Gun-Gun Textiles is tucked away at 10/3836 A in Gali No. 12, over in Shanti Mohalla. If you know Gandhi Nagar, you know how crowded these lanes can get. We have been in this spot for a long time, surrounded by other fabric shops and traders. The noise is constant, with rickshaws and people carrying big bundles of cloth past the door. Inside our shop, it’s mostly just rolls of fabric stacked from the floor to the ceiling. We don't have much room for anything else. My family has been doing this for years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers in the gali. We don't really do retail; it’s mostly wholesale for people who come from out of town to buy in bulk. It gets really hot in the summer, especially with all the textiles trapping the heat, but we have a couple of good fans going. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We don't use fancy computers for everything, still relying on our notebooks and old calculators most of the time. If you’re looking for us, you’ll have to walk through the lane since it’s too narrow for cars. It’s a bit of a maze, but Shanti Mohalla is where all the good cloth is. We’re just one small part of it.
