Friends Glass & Plywood Company

Our shop is right on Vikas Marg in Lakshmi Nagar, so the noise from the traffic is basically the background music for everything we do. At B 33/3, we have been handling glass and plywood for a long time now. If you walk in, you will see stacks of wood sheets leaning against the back and sheets of glass tucked safely in their racks. Cutting glass is a quiet, careful job but cutting plywood makes a lot of sawdust that gets everywhere. We spend a lot of time sweeping up, though it never feels completely clean. It is a small space for how much stuff we keep inside. Some days it is just a struggle to find enough room to move a large sheet of ply without hitting a light fixture. We usually have tea delivered from the stall down the street twice a day. The people who work here have been doing this for years, so their hands are rough and they can tell the thickness of a board just by touching it. It is honest work. We do not have a fancy showroom. Most of our customers are local carpenters or people fixing up their small apartments nearby. We talk about the weather or the traffic while we measure things out. It is a bit chaotic sometimes when a big delivery arrives and we have to shuffle everything around, but we manage to keep things moving. It is just how a local business like ours runs day in and day out.
