Fashion Accessories

Our place, Fashion Accessories, is located at No. 9/6621 Nehru Gali. It’s right near Janta Gali in the Gandhi Nagar area. If you’ve ever been to Gandhi Nagar, you know how narrow the lanes are. It’s a maze of shops and people carrying bundles of cloth. Our shop is quite small, honestly. We have things stacked from the floor up to the ceiling. You have to be careful where you step so you don't trip over a bag of buttons or zippers. It gets very hot in the summer because the air doesn't move much in these narrow alleys. We have a couple of small fans that we keep running all day. Most of our work involves sorting through small parts and making sure the counts are right. It’s tedious but it’s what we do. The neighbors are all doing similar things, so there is a lot of shouting back and forth across the lane. Sometimes we eat lunch together on the steps if it’s not too crowded. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We mostly use paper notebooks to keep track of what we have. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us in Nehru Gali. We’ve been in this same spot for years and the neighborhood hasn't changed much in that time. We just open up the shutters every morning and get to work.
