Our Chennai office is over at the Shriram Gateway Project on GST Road. It’s where the old Standard Motors factory used to be in New Perungalathur. There is a lot of local history in this specific spot. Working here feels different from being in a city center. It’s more spread out and industrial. We are part of this big project, so there is always movement around us. Heavy machinery, workers in yellow vests, and lots of dust in the air. We have our little corner where we manage all the paperwork. It gets really hot in Chennai, so the ceiling fans are always going full blast. We spend a lot of time talking to the engineers and supervisors on the ground. Sometimes things go slow because of the heavy rain or the intense heat, but we keep pushing. It’s a long way from our other offices in the north, but the work is basically the same. You need people who know what they are doing. We’ve got a crew that understands the local land and the building regulations. We drink a lot of strong coffee here instead of tea. It’s a local habit we’ve picked up. We stay busy with the logistics of moving materials. Getting stuff to the site on GST Road can be a challenge with the crazy traffic. We just take it day by day and make sure the projects stay on track.
