Durga Rumaal Industries

If you walk down the main road in Kanhiya Nagar, you’ll find Durga Rumaal Industries at C3821/7. We are right in the middle of Tri Nagar, which is a very busy part of the city. There’s always someone shouting outside or a rickshaw bell ringing. Our place is where we handle a lot of cloth, mostly for handkerchiefs. You can smell the cotton when you walk in. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about how we stack the bundles of fabric. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room, but we manage. My brothers and I have been running things here for a long time. We don't have a website or anything like that; people usually just find us by walking past or through word of mouth. The light in the back room isn't the best, so we do most of the cutting near the front door where the sun hits. It’s hard work and your hands get tired after a full day of folding, but it’s what we know. We have an old radio that stays on most of the day, playing whatever station has the least static. We don't have fancy titles or corporate meetings. We just show up, do the work, and head home when the shutters go down. The tea guy knows our order by heart because we’ve been here so many years.
