Our office is tucked away in Mehrauli. If you know New Delhi, you know this area has a lot of history and old buildings. Dearch Architects has been working out of here for some time. We spend a lot of hours looking at drawings and sketches. It's not all glamorous like people think. There is a lot of measuring and double-checking numbers. The space we have is filled with rolls of paper and various models we've put together. It gets a bit dusty sometimes. We don't have a big corporate lobby with a receptionist. Usually, one of us just looks up from a desk when the door opens. We take on different projects, some small and some a bit bigger. Designing things takes a lot of patience. Sometimes a drawing doesn't work out and we have to start over from scratch. That's just how it goes in this line of work. Mehrauli is a good spot because it feels different from the rest of the city. We like the vibe here. It helps us think. We aren't trying to be the most famous firm in the world. We just want to make sure the buildings we work on actually stand up and look decent. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time. We often have tea together in the afternoon and talk about what we need to finish.
