You can find Daulat Ram & Sons over at No. 5509 in Gandhi Market, which is part of the Sadar Bazar area. It is a very hectic place to work. There are carts moving through the lanes and people carrying huge bundles of goods on their heads. Our shop is right in the middle of all that chaos. We have been here for years, and the space is filled from floor to ceiling with stock. It is a bit of a maze inside, and if you don't know where something is, you might never find it. We are a small group, mostly family, and we all know our roles. One of us handles the customers, another checks the inventory, and someone is always on the phone. We don't have a fancy showroom. It is more of a warehouse feel where everything is functional. We sit on small stools and talk to people who come in looking for deals or just a few items. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a five-minute break to breathe. Sadar Bazar is not for everyone because it is so loud and busy, but we have grown used to the energy. It’s just how we earn our living at No. 5509. We keep things simple and just try to get through the orders as they come in. It's crowded but we make it work.
