Classic Bearings

Classic Bearings is at 80 G.B. Road, up on the second floor. It’s right on Shardhanand Marg, which is always a hive of activity. Our shop is pretty much just shelves and shelves of bearings. We have every type you can think of, and they’re all tucked away in boxes that reach up to the ceiling. Because we’re on the second floor, we have to carry everything up and down the stairs. It’s hard work, especially with the heavier industrial bearings. The air always has a slight smell of oil and metal, which we’ve all grown to like. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. We don’t use a lot of fancy software to track things. We know our inventory mostly by memory and by looking at our handwritten ledgers. The space is small and can get quite hot in the summer, so the fans are always on full blast. We don't have a marketing team or a polished image. We just know our bearings. Customers come to us because they know we’ve been here at number 80 for a long time. It’s a busy, noisy, and somewhat messy place, but it’s how we’ve always operated. We open the shutters in the morning and stay until the work is done. It’s just a straightforward, local business on a busy street.
